Writer Russell T Davies has admitted the show will 'never be the same'

Two-time RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Jinkx Monsoon is set to play a “major role” in the upcoming series of Doctor Who, the BBC have announced.

After completing a sell out run on Broadway, Monsoon joins the cast of the classic TV drama in a move which will result in the show “never being the same again”, according to leading writer Russell T Davies.


The show returns in November 2023 with three special episodes with David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor as part of the 60th anniversary celebrations.Actor Ncuti Gatwa is then set to take the reins, with his first episode as the Fifteenth Doctor airing over the festive period.

Russell T Davies, Showrunner said: “In a galaxy of comets and supernovas, here comes the biggest star of all. Jinkx Monsoon is on a collision course with the TARDIS, and Doctor Who will never be the same again!”

Jinkx Monsoon, said: “I’m honoured, thrilled, and utterly excited to join Doctor Who! Russell T Davies is a visionary and a brilliant writer - I can’t wait to get into the weeds with him and the crew! I hope there’s room in the TARDIS for my luggage.”

Millie Gibson is set to co-star on the show as the companion to the Doctor, Ruby Sunday.
